Every March, events with the theme of "women" are held around the world as part of Women's History Month, which is globally designated as Women's History Month. Women's History Month is said to have originated from a march by about 15,000 women in New York in 1908. At that time, women demanded improvements in the working environment they were in and the right to vote. As a result of this appeal, February 28th became Women's Day in the United States the following year. This movement in the United States gradually spread to become an international movement, and International Women's Day was designated on March 8th by the United Nations in 1975.
New York, the birthplace of the movement that gave rise to the history of independent women who had a significant impact on the social status and advancement of women, also holds a "Herstory" exhibition every March at the Viridian Gallery to support and encourage women's activities. This year, the NY Art Wave Project is also participating in the exhibition, featuring promising Japanese artists.
